Fallera's Attire.

Ya estoy aquí después de pasar el fin de semana en Madrid, donde he comprado algunas cositas que os enseñaré pronto, pero por hoy, voy a enseñaros mi outfit del pasado sábado 9. Tuve un evento relacionado con las Fallas, que son las fiestas más importantes de mi ciudad. Mi prima es fallera y fue su presentación. Yo nunca he sido fallera en mi vida, porque la verdad, es que no me siento muy ligada a los eventos que se realizan, pero disfruto de la semana de Fallas (del 14 al 19 de Marzo) pasando el día en la calle y moviéndome entre la gente y los monumentos que ocupan la ciudad esos días. Hoy quiero además, que los que no sois de Valencia, conozcáis algo más sobre mi ciudad y su cultura, a través de los vestidos de fallera. Espero que disfuteis de la entrada.

I'm here again and back from Madrid, where I bought some pretty things to show you soon, but for today, I'm going to post the past Saturday 9th outfit. I had an event related to Fallas, which are the greatest holidays in my town. My cousin is a Fallera, and she had her appearance of the year as a fallera. I've never been a Fallera, because I'm not much into the events, but as a Valencian citizen, I enjoy during the week of fallas (from 14th to 19th of March) spending the whole day in the streets and delighting myself with the crowds and the beautiful sights which are set those days. Additionally, Today I want you to learn something more about my city and its culture through Fallera's dresses. I hope you'll enjoy the post.

I Was Wearing:

Esta es mi prima de 5 años, a la que le encanta vestirse de Fallera. El peinado consta de tres moños (dos a los lados de la cabeza y uno atrás), y decorados con agujas y peinetas. Además, las falleras llevan un conjunto de joyas, llamado Aderezo, compuesto de pendientes, colgante y joya que sujeta la manteleta al vestido. La manteleta está bordada a mano y se decoran con motivos florales y demás. Son piezas muy elaboradas.

She's my five-year old cousin, who loves wearing as a Fallera. The hairstyle consist in three buns (one on each side of the head and another one behind) decorated with jewelry pins and hair combs. Moreover, women who are falleras wear a whole set of jewelry called Aderezo composed of pendant earrings, a pendant for the necklace and a big jewel (called Joia) which fasten the Manteleta, which is a kind of silk scarf. The Manteleta is hand embroided, decorated with floral motifs. They are very elaborated pieces.

At this picture, you're able to see better the pins on the bun, part of the jewels which conform the Aderezo and a part of the Manteleta.

Y así es como queda el vestido entero. El vestido lo conforman un corpiño y una falda, que pueden estar hechos de la misma tela o de telas con bordados distintos. Los motivos que más se usan en los trajes de fallera son las flores, y las telas de seda suelen estar bordadas con hilo de oro o de plata, conjuntándose con el material de las peinetas y el aderezo. Los zapatos suelen estar forrados con la misma tela utilizada para el vestido y tienen un tacón no muy alto. Además, para decorar la falda, se utiliza también una manteleta sobre la misma que cubre a medias la parte de delante (ya que es transparente). Las falleras, además, tienen que utilizar una ropa interior especial para que la falda quede ahuecada y con vuelo, y se conforma de pololo (una especie de pantalones), enaguas (falda que se lleva sobre el pololo), chambra (especie de camiseta de tirantes unida con las enaguas) y por último, calcetines. A veces, cuando hace frío, las falleras se cubren con una Manta Morellana, como la que se ve en la foto siguiente.

And that's how the entire dress look like. The dress consists in a two pieces bodice and a skirt, which can be made of the same fabric or different fabrics with different fancyworks. The most used motifs in Fallera's dresses are the flowers, and the silk fabric is usually embroided with gold or silver wire, matching with the hair combs and aderezo's material. Besides, it's used another manteleta upon the skirt to decorate it which half covers the front (Manteletas are semitransparent). Falleras have to use a special underwear to hollow out their skirt and it's formed by pololo (a kind of pants), enaguas (a kind of long skirt to wear over the pololo), chambra (a kind of sleeveless shirt attached to the enagua) and high socks. Sometimes, when the weather is cold, the fallera, has to cover herself with a Manta Morellana, a kind of blanket which you can see  in the next photo.

Los vestidos de fallera pueden ser de muchísimos colores llamativos y decorados con flores de tonos muy distintos. Lo importante del traje, en mi opinión, es buscar una combinación vistosa evitando vulgaridades. Tener un traje regional de este tipo implica para las mujeres que lo llevan un gran desembolso económico, sin existir realmente un tope, ya que como se dice en Valencia, "quant més sucre, més dolç." (Cuanto más azúcar, más dulce.)

Fallera dresses could be in lots of striking  colors, and decorated with different tones. The main clue when choosing a fallera dress, in my opinion, is trying to find a colorful combination avoiding vulgarities. To have a regional costume like this implies a huge economic outlay without existing a maximum price, because as we say in Valencia, "quant més sucre, més dolç." (something like: with more sugar, it's sweeter.)

Buenas Tardes! Hoy voy a hablaros de mi primera colaboración para un blog. Hace algunas semanas, Arno, del blog BDC69 me propuso hacer una entrada sobre mí misma y mi relación con las botas de goma, ya que el tema de su blog son las llamadas "Rubber Riding Boots", y había visto unas fotos en Lookbook donde yo las llevaba puestas. El caso es que empezamos a mandarnos e-mails, y fue genial poder salir en su blog y ayudarle a crear su entrada basándose en mis comentarios o lo que escribía en los mails. Además, Arno resultó ser una gran persona, con la que no tuve ningún problema a la hora de preguntarle mis dudas sobre el post, además de muy amable y bueno (y fan de los Beatles). Good Evening! Today, I'm going to tell you about my first blog collaboration. Some weeks ago, Arno, from BDC69's blog suggest me to make a post about myself and my relationship with Rubber Riding Boots, which is its blog's main topic because he saw some pictures posted on Lookbook where I was wearing them. The thing is that we started sending emails, and for me, appearing on his blog and help him to create the post basing it on my oppinions or what I wrote at the emails has been a beautiful experience. In addition, Arno turned out to be a great, kind and gentle person, and I felt as if I hadn't got any problem when asking my doubts about the post (and he is a Beatles fan too). January Buyouts.

¡Hola! Hoy voy a mostraros algunas de las cosas que me he comprado durante el mes de Enero y lo que llevamos de Febrero. Este año no he podido disfrutar de las compras de rebajas como me hubiese gustado ya que como sabréis, he estado todo el mes de exámenes y no he tenido tiempo.

Hi! Today, I'm going to show you some thing I've been buying during January and these February days. This year has been impossible for me to go and enjoy the shopping discounts as much as I wanted but most of you may know that I've been in the first term exam period and I haven't had time enough.

 Leopard printed slippers from Cortefiel with neon pink trims. I've been wearing them a couple of days this week and I think they're comfortable and pretty. You could have seen them on my instagram account.

Black Sequin Skirt by Tezenis. It was only 5€ on sales.

Atmosphere by Primark coral pink sweater. I think the color of the photo is actually pretty accurate.

Primark Combined Ring in gold color and cream.

Opia by Primark Candle in imitation of Yankee Candle jar candles. I have to say that they both smell delicious and were only 1 euro each.

Además de estas cosas me he comprado también una camisa de cuadros en tonos azules y verde de Zara que ya os enseñaré, unos pantalones vaqueros de Pepe Jeans y unos negros también de Zara y ciertas prendas básicas que he necesitado. Esta semana espero subir alguna entrada más (ya que tengo un par preparadas) porque este fin de semana me voy a Madrid, y me gustaría enseñaros alguna que otra foto, además de un pequeño proyecto que tengo en mente y que todavía no sé si será posible realizar. Besides, I have bought a plaid shirt in dark blue and green from Zara that I'll show you soon, a pair of jeans from Pepe Jeans, a pair of black skinny pants from Zara and some basic garments I've been in need of. This week I'm expecting to upload a couple of posts I prepared, because this weekend I'm going off to Madrid, so I would like to show you some photos and a small project I've been thinking of for a while and I don't know if I will be able to carry out. Sunny Saturday.

¡Hola a todos! POR FIN, he acabado los primeros exámenes de la universidad!!!!!! Pero como lo bueno no dura mucho, hoy ya he empezado las clases de nuevo. Aun así, este fin de semana de libertad he tenido la oportunidad de hacer algunas fotos de mi outfit del sábado (aunque no de muy buena calidad), y así de paso os enseño a través de él un par de cosillas nuevas que me he comprado (aunque este mes de enero han sido más con las rebajas y todo eso).

Hi everybody! FINALLY, I have finished my first university exams!!! But all the good things come to an end and I started again today the new semester. Anyway, last weekend of freedom I had the chance to do some photos of the outfit I was wearing on Sunday (even if there are not in a good quality), and with it I can show you a couple of things I have bought this month (even if this month I have bought many things because of the sales).
