Lady in Red (and Stripes).

Rayas. Otra tendencia de esta temporada a la que no me he podido resistir. Y, ciertamente, ¿cómo iba a poder resistirme? No pasan de moda, estilizan, favorecen, y quedan bien con casi todo.

Stripes. Another of this season's trends that I have fallen for. The truth is, ¿how could I resist? Stripes are always in style, they make you look skinnier, they suit you, and they go with almost everything.

Este año, las camisetas marsellesas con rayas horizontales que abundaban en primavera, dejan paso a las rayas de preso verticales blancas y negras en pantalones, camisas, blazers, bolsos e incluso zapatos.

The typical feature of the spring: "marseillaise" shirt with horizontal stripes give their way to black and white vertical prisoner stripes in pants, shirts, blazers, purses and even shoes.

En esta ocasión, y teniendo en cuenta que la prenda de rayas que he escogido para el look es una camisa suelta de seda de Zara, he decidido combinarla con pantalones pitillo negros de Zara (también), mis botitas militares de Stradivarius que ya conocéis de sobra por anteriores entradas (y que aunque tienen ya varios años, este invierno no me las he quitado de los pies) y una chaqueta roja de sport vintage, rescatada del armario de mi madre y comprada en los 90. Pintalabios rojo y raya negra.

On this occasion, and considering that the chosen striped-garment for the outfit was a loose and silky shirt from Zara, I have decided to match it with black skinny jeans from Zara too, my military ankle boots from Stradivarius, the ones that you know for sure because of previous posts (they have several years, but I've been wearing them a lot this winter), and a vintage sport jacket that I got out of my mom's wardrobe and was bought in the 90's. Red lipstick and black eyeliner.

Buzzing just like Neon.

Con esta frase de John Mayer, pongo título a la entrada de hoy. Los colores flúor (o neones) vuelven con fuerza esta temporada primavera-verano 2013. Yo ya me he sumado a la tendencia, y me he comprado algunas cosas en distintos tonos de colores llamativos. Combínalos con medida, y tendrás a tu disposición un look sorprendente.

I have titled today's post with this quote from John Mayer. Neon colors are hitting back this SS2013 season. I have already joined this trend, and I have bought some things in different shades of striking colors. Combine this garments with moderation, and you'll get an eye-catching look.

Estas son algunas de las prendas por las que yo me he decantado. Si no quieres arriesgar demasiado utilizando colores neón, puedes llevarlos en complementos (pañuelos, pulseras, relojes, bolsos, esmaltes de uñas, etc.)

These are the items I have chosen. If you don't want to risk too much using neon colors, you can wear them by using clothing accesories as scarves, bracelets, watches, nail polishes or bags.

Los tonos flúor son geniales, pero podemos convertir un look llamativo en un completo desastre en menos que canta un gallo si no tenemos en cuenta ciertos aspectos:

1. No uses diferentes tonos del mismo color en el mismo outfit.
2. Intenta no llevar diferentes colores neón en el mismo outfit, es preferible combinar las prendas flúor con colores neutros como el blanco o el negro.
3. Trata de acentuar alguna parte del atuendo con las prendas en tonos neon, y recuerda: No estamos en los años 80.
4. Si quieres llevar un look utilizando el color blocking, combina los colores de dos en dos (máximo tres). Si llevas un look con varias prendas y cada una de un color, acabarás pareciendo un payaso.
5. Menos es más.

Neon colors are great, but you can turn a shocking look into a completely desaster in no time at all if you don't consider some clues:

1. Do not use different shades of the same color in the same outfit.
2. Try not to use differet neon colors in the same outfit. It is preferable to combine neon garments with neutral colors such as black or white.
3. Try to bring the attention to any part of the outfit with the neon clothing and remember that we're not in the 80's.
4. If you want to wear a color blocking look, combine colors going two by two (maximum of three). If you wear an outfit with different items, and every one in a different color, you'll end up looking like a clown.
5. Less is often more.

Weekend in Madrid.

Siento haberos abandonado durante un tiempo más largo del que me esperaba, pero de momento, estoy aquí con algunas fotos que enseñaros de Madrid. Fui a la capital los días 15, 16 y 17 de Febrero con Pablo y nos hospedamos en un hotel muy mono y moderno en la calle Montera con Gran Vía, el Praktik Metropol. Nuestra habitación estaba en el noveno piso y tanto por el día como por la noche teníamos unas vistas impresionantes.

I'm sorry I haven't been here for a longer time than I expected, but for now, I'm here with some pictures to show you of Madrid. I went to the capital from 15th to 17th of February with Pablo, and we stayed in a cute and modern hotel, Praktik Metropol, located in Montera Street with Gran Vía. Our room was on the top of the building (9th floor) and the sights were spectacular by day and night.

Simplemente, me encanta Madrid, y voy casi todos los años (incluso más de una vez), pero siempre aprovecho para hacer turismo y comprar en Fuencarral, que es la zona que más me gusta. Con respecto al outfit, lo más importante para mí, fue no pasar frío, y lo conseguí con el abrigo que ya os enseñé en la última entrada, aunque quizás no fuese lo que más combinaba con mi ropa. Los botines los escogí porque pensé que serían el calzado más cómodo para caminar durante todo el día.

I simply love Madrid and I go there every year (even more than once). I always do some sightseeing and go shopping in Fuencarral, which is the area I like best. Regarding the outfits, my main goal was keeping myself warm, and I think I got it with the brown coat I showed you on the last post, even if it didn't match perfectly with the rest of the clothing. I choose the booties thinking they were going to be a comfy kind of shoe to walk all day.
